Human rights and discrimination
Defence and counsel in human rights matters and discrimination cases.
What this area covers
Since the 2011 constitutional reform, human rights recognised in international treaties form part of Mexican law and bind every authority. Discrimination — on grounds of origin, gender, age, disability, social condition, religion, preference or opinion — is constitutionally prohibited and has specific routes of defence.
What clients usually need
Those who suffer discrimination rarely hold the document that proves it: it is almost never put in writing. What they need is for someone to identify the right route — there are several, and they do not all lead to the same place — and to build the case from what does exist. Companies, for their part, need to prevent: in employment, discrimination is now one of the fastest-growing sources of liability.
